Using Opera Mini for the first time ever
Tricky business I tell you. Don't think I'd make a habit of this. Casual mobile data costs a fortune in NZ.
I'm posting this now. Fingers Xed.
Day 2 Trying to insert a pic
What a mission!! :faint:
Day3 another go
Finally managed. But there must be an easier way to copy URL and paste.
Yay! Posted!! Actually gave me the bad request error message. Probably because I didn't have the title. See if I can edit from Mini and add a little picture. (Forgot to mention I've just got a new phone, my first camera phone, and been playing with it for a while.)[Update]I couldn't find an option to add pics from Mini. That's OK. This post is for a novelty value only. :D[Update] Mini froze while trying to upload pic via uploader.
In short, you have to use the "basic" uploader with mini. :pBut you can always use your WiFi when you're at home. :sherlock:I have little choice but to use 3G since ADSL is so expensive as it requires you to pay for services you don't specifically want! .

Unfortunately, Aadil, it's not possible. The phone's a basic 3G feature phone, not WiFi capable. Beside, I hate typing on the phone keypad :yuck:The carrier, NZ Telecom, decided to pull plug on the old CDMA network. I was forced to "upgrade". I could have switched to another carrier but Telecom enticed me with some "free" credit for buying one of their basic feature phones. It was the "free" credit that made me try out Mini. :pSince my credit only lasts for 12 months on the new network, including the "free" one, I am already looking for a more competitive carrier. 😀
Cheers, DH Free mobile surfing was a quite good fun, although my eyes were screaming and my neck was convulsing from overuse by the time I stopped. :p Telecom casual data charge is $1 for 10MB. But the Mini only used about 3MB last night. I was very impressed by that. I might try again next time I go out for a little town walk. ;):coffee:
Seems to work.

Mini works well, I tried it on my cheap samsung for a little while. The only problem was screen size 😀
OK, so Sam sung, but why did he sing and what was he singing?:p

I thought that was Sam Sung and Delilah?
Yes i am, actually I was 5 seconds ago. I am now between coffee's.
😀
Just finished mine (tea, naturally)It's a beaut day in Welly. I might go out for a town walk with my new cell. :DTTFN meanwhile. I have to go get some stuff done before I move.
😆 Perfect! :yes::sing:
Have a good one 🙂
You Guys Would – Not – Believe – This!I've made an incredibly outrageous decision to buy another mobile with better camera & wifi. I just can't stand the poor quality of the camera on this sam sung any more. My eyes hurt looking into the little screen & my neck hurts from strain trying to type with the stupid little phone key pad! Before decided on this no-frills sam sung, I had quite seriously considered this android phone from another mobile operator. Since then the price has been reduced, and, yesterday, I learnt the operator and a retailer chain were doing a promotion sale with another 20% discount on top! I simply lost all my self control! :no:I shall keep both phones, at least time being. The no-frills sam sung with extra credit will be used solely as, ahem, a cellphone. :p While the android phone will be used for browsing & email, and also as a take anywhere compact camera. It probably sounds extremely stupid carrying around two mobile phones. But both are quite compact and carrying both will probably be less cumbersome than some of the latest big smartphones. I'm sure I'll manage :coffee:
I think 2 degrees is the best option.. Will probably go down that route. The next thing is a phone 😀

The mobile doomsday :pIf you also need to switch from Telecom CDMA and considering taking up their offer of $79 credit for upgrade, note you can't keep your credit on XT more than 12 months. I don't use cellphone often and I was still using the credit I loaded in 2007. 😆 So for someone like me that offer wasn't so good.
I tempted to go Vodaphone or 2 Degrees…
Yes. I considered 2 Degrees very very seriously. Shouldn't have got lured by that bonus credit. I might still switch to 2 Degrees after Telecom's bonus credit expires in a year.I'm not sure if vodafone offers real prepay. The prepay plans seem require regular top-ups, which I don't like.
I need to get a new phone, my old one will cease to be able to access a network in the very near future 😀

"My, my, my…Samsung" :sing:
BTW I made a dirty little album at my MM group site for sharing my Sam Sung's dirty little mobile photos. :p I don't intend to keep it for a long, though. 😉
I like cameras for taking photos 😀
Cameras tend to be better at that. 😀
Another MM persona 😀
😆 Yap. I didn't want to deface my beautiful photo album list with that dirty little mobile photo album :pJust been down to Otari and took & uploaded a couple of pics. I couldn't quite see the quality of pictures in the mobile screen. But now at home looking at them in my laptop screen, it is plain the qualities aren't good.
Thats my thought too
Congrats on the new phone!

Thanks, Aadil. It's not here yet, will probably arrive on Tuesday. It'll take a couple of days to set it up and get used to using that touch screen stuff. Watch the space 😀

I think that 'touch screen stuff' is more difficult than a phone keypad, but that's probably because I have more experience with the keypad! :p
I'm very clumsy with phone keypad. Even worse was key arrangement in Mini is not the same as the native one. EG the native key for a space is the 0 key, but the # key in Mini! And simple symbols like + are mission to enter with Mini. With the touchscreen keyboard, I will at least see those. Or that's what I'm hoping for.
With Android there are loads of alternative keyboards you can install if you don't like the stock one.
Thanks, Mick. I'm very excited about getting this new toy and have been reading up about android. 😀

My sam sung model is not listed at http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/samsung/#active Not sure because we get non-standard model in NZ or for some other reason. They don't seem to have update info on NZ operators: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=111656I did give them more up to date information, but might have given the wrong data.
More testing. Please ignore 🙂http://my.opera.com/devblog/blog/2012/07/20/spam-filtering-comments?cid=93612862#comment93612862http://dev.opera.com/mobilehttp://www.opera.com/mobile/download/

😆 I hope not!So you've read the linked post of mine about having my comment to my own blog "Marked as spam"? :lol:Forum search is not working for logged in user, either. So I assume that was caused by some temporary bug. Haven't you had your comment marked as spam, yet? :p
It was the happy smiley that seemed to cause the most anguish…

No, I am good
