2011 Rugby World Cup Wellington victory parade

2011 Rugby World Cup victory parade finally arrived at Wellington yesterday. Weather was not particularly good but did not dampen the spirits of those gathered to cheer and thank "our boys" and mark their historic achievement with fellow Wellington rugby fans. …

I was going to take my dSLR but when learnt of the rain forecast, changed my mind and took my superzoom compact Canon instead. The photo qualities are not good but enough to capture some special moments. I even exchanged half handshake half handslap with the winger/fullback Cory Jane! Yay!

Most photos are in the album Fleeting Moments. I'll add photo descriptions soonish. Watch the space. 😀

  1. Its raining like its not going to stop here, it was really nice yesterday

  2. Yes. Rain makes grass cutting rather unpleasant. I ought to have done my grass but it was either raining, ground still wet after rain, too tired or deadline closing in. A good range of excuses. :p

  3. It was marvellous! I was glad I made an effort to go there. 😀 I admit I didn't stick around on the Parliamentary ground. Spending time in middle of Lambton Quay to get close to the parade meant I could go nowhere near the front steps as you could see. And it started to rain!

  4. Now it's your turn. :DCompared to the recent years of drought, I'm sure the HB & East Coast farmers will love it.

  5. Had to feed the cat… Theres another good one for you, I am outta here, TTFN

  8. We are not upside down :p Therefore blood does not flow to the brains 😆

  9. Yes, it was just awesome. Little kids and old ladies watched the parade side by side. The atmosphere was so special. I was very happy to be there.

  10. There were also Scottish people there? Pipes and Drums – I love the music.

  11. Many British colonists were from Scotland and some parts of NZ have strong Scottish influence. 🙂
