275

Today I have pulled out the last of the rusty roof nails and replaced with the roof screw No 275. That was the moment that marked the end of Stage-one of my main summer DIY project, AKA Project-R (R stands for roof-painting).

Two-hundred-seventy-five roof screws now secure my roof. I have pulled out a somewhat fewer number of old lead capped roof nails and drilled replacement holes for about 15% of the new screws that replaced those old nails or installed for extra security.

It has been a difficult journey through this stage of the project. I injured myself, wore off my power drill, found ugly rust spots and corrosion holes that I rather didn't want to know about, had leak in heavy rain and broke my heart over the doomed future of the beautiful innocent lichen colonies.

I overcame those difficulties and became stronger at every successful pulling out of stubborn rusty nail and every purchase of a new piece of hardware :p

The rooftop is also a special place you normally don't notice existed. It is another world altogether, where you can find solitude, warmth and relaxation. Sometimes I took my camera up and captured unique moments, which you can see in my photo album Project-R. Other times I took a cup of tea up and enjoyed the special tea lounge with a million dollar view.

The funniest moments to me came a few days ago, which I now call the "Roofsaga" :p
Hope you find it as funny as I did.

  • You're not supposed to be here! [The Oddity]
  • NO!!! Don't touch THAT!! [The Reprimand]
  • Get off the roof! GO!! [The Marching Order]
  • Get OFF! That's NOT your play thing!! [The Resistance]

The project goes on. Hopefully I can share the images of end product by end of summer. 😉

  1. Well MM, If I know anything about cats then it is that they are vain, so I have no doubt that there on the roof she has no intention of being invisible as she would love to be known as the one that taught you how to climb onto a roof.

  2. Well….is she of the feline persuasion or not? If she is then that is exactly what she was thinking.

😆 Was that what she was thinking? 😀

I'm not sure she's quite got there yet. To me she's still very much kitten like and simply following me around for play and attention. Maybe in a year or two when she is mature and more settled, she'll start using that feline charm on me, like Mimi used to do. Until then, she's the "Silly Little Monkey"
