Today I have pulled out the last of the rusty roof nails and replaced with the roof screw No 275. That was the moment that marked the end of Stage-one of my main summer DIY project, AKA Project-R (R stands for roof-painting).
Two-hundred-seventy-five roof screws now secure my roof. I have pulled out a somewhat fewer number of old lead capped roof nails and drilled replacement holes for about 15% of the new screws that replaced those old nails or installed for extra security.
…
It has been a difficult journey through this stage of the project. I injured myself, wore off my power drill, found ugly rust spots and corrosion holes that I rather didn't want to know about, had leak in heavy rain and broke my heart over the doomed future of the beautiful innocent lichen colonies.
I overcame those difficulties and became stronger at every successful pulling out of stubborn rusty nail and every purchase of a new piece of hardware :p
The rooftop is also a special place you normally don't notice existed. It is another world altogether, where you can find solitude, warmth and relaxation. Sometimes I took my camera up and captured unique moments, which you can see in my photo album Project-R. Other times I took a cup of tea up and enjoyed the special tea lounge with a million dollar view.
The funniest moments to me came a few days ago, which I now call the "Roofsaga" :p
Hope you find it as funny as I did.

You're not supposed to be here! [The Oddity]

Get OFF! That's NOT your play thing!! [The Resistance]
The project goes on. Hopefully I can share the images of end product by end of summer. 😉

At least through all the trials, you never gave up, and that is an admiral trait. I see our camo expert is also enjoying playing apprentice.
That's a tough job. But well worth it..
Wonderful story :hat:
Your "Roofsaga" reminds me of mothers who take care of their children.
Who knew that roof work would be such an adventure. 😀 And Arwen is probably wondering why you are hanging out on the roof all the time. You didn't used to spend so much time on the roof. Primates are so mysterious….

Cheers, Aadil. 'A job worth doing is worth doing well' LOL Such a hack and patch job 😛
Indeed, Angelika. Arwen is such a baby. She still behaves like a kitten. Silly little thing. She even throws tantrum now and then. :lol:I guess once the roof is painted and dried, I could let her up there to play. But right now there are dangerous stuff like the rust treatment chemical and rusty iron bits on the roof, I don't want her up there.
Glad you like the story, Sami. :happy:Initially the post was going to be about the "Roofsaga" only and going to be titled "I don't need your HELP!". But then I managed to finish the nail pulling part and thought I should add all other components like the ATT picture. The title came when I was sorting out the tool bag and counted remaining screws. Now I call this an organic blogging! :p
Thank you Helen. :happy:Arwen is so curious and wants to stick her nose into everything. Her colours don't do a good job of camouflaging on the roof, though 😀

Well it must be fun. Why else would you be doing it? 😀
You should now build a deck up on the roof for during the summer…
But I'd need the building consent to build one and what have you. It'd be winter when the building could start. Also there'd still be handrails that obscured views. I can already take my breakfast up there if I want to. 😉
Have an infinity pool instead, better views 😆

And make more holes :awww:
But think about eating your breakfast on the deck with those fantastic views… Must be worth a few more holes 😆

Apparently another term for it is "disappearing edge". Now that's ominous when applied to rooftop … :DOriginally posted by Mickeyjoe_irl:
😆 My old one saw me that, too, I'm sure. The young one I have now, the main kick of "Roofsaga", thinks me more as her play mate. I've been ambushed, jumped on, tackled, grabbed and play-bitten. And she loves it when I start chasing her around after one of such stunts. Pure rascal. :lol:Originally posted by debplatt:

Now how could that have happened? :p
Okay, the animated cat smiley just might have slipped into my own smiley collection.

😆 Don't worry, I won't tell. BTW, you can get the toolbar with all the animated smilies here.

Right now the dining room table has a laptop, some vinyl LPs, and a couple cassette tapes. Oh! And my even older camera. So things are slowing getting put away… slowly.
Hmmm, I will stick to the old set and words to get me by 😀

I keep hearing about Tamil's Smiley Toolbar. But I don't have access to that. So in my case the smileys wait comfortably in my Opera's file folder till needed.

It's rather addictive. Tamil's Smiley Toolbar is available from here: http://my.opera.com/Tamil/blog/formatting-tools-with-animated-smilies-in-my-opera-quick-replyApparently you can add your own or burrown someone else's collection to the standard set that comes with it. 😉

You seem making a good progress. 😉
That looks a bit like a fried egg with an umbrella in it… A fried egg cocktail 😆

Did you see how you can add your own smilies to the toolbar?
Originally posted by darkesthour:
Ummm… no, but there is a sympathetic bartender:And the bar does offer other fruit, like limes:Originally posted by Mickeyjoe_irl:
I did notice that you can do that, but my smiley library is kind of voluminous. It might be a lot of work in my case, and I have so many pressing activities that require my attention.
😆

Pineapple with fried eggs or cocktail? Originally posted by Mickeyjoe_irl:
I'm sure Deb'll figure that out soon. She's handy at the keyboard and introduced me to the CSS 😉
Okay. What if I want to spend a relaxing day … in a frying pan? with one of my eggy friends? during the cocktail hour?

I have three different browsers installed on my laptop: Firefox, Chrome and Opera. I periodically use all of them, but my standby browser is Firefox. It has been tuned to be Linux friendly, and I regularly use a number of its custom addons. However having been prompted both by MM and Uncle Mick, I have downloaded and installed the User Javascript file with all the smileys to be used in conjustion with Opera. So maybe while visiting this site, I'll use the Opera browser more often. Maybe. Still I have a fondness for the smileys that have settled into my OC home. I mean, really, what if I want to spend a relaxing day at the beach with one of my smiley friends?
Can I get pineapple with that? 😀

Its not bad… 😀
