Lost spring

How many of you remember the very first post of my Hard Life blog, featuring my shiny classy high-end Made-in-Germany technology, Sthil brusch-cutter?

OK. OK. Not many. I see. … Anyway, I was recently having a little problem with it. I had lost a part. A spring. Not just a spring, but THE spring that pops the head up and holds the cords in place. Without it the cords will be lost in matter of minutes. And cord is not cheap. …

I would have to get replacement spring. The problem was, the shop I bought the tool from was about 30 minutes by car and in middle of not so pretty semi-industrial semi-commercial area.

So I decided to go to the other shop on the other end of town. It would take probably as long as getting the original shop. But it is near the sea and there could be some new discoveries.

So off I went in my little car to the other shop to recover the lost spring, and to enjoy an excursion into a new territory.

Above right is the view I got when I got out of the car, of the street where the shop is.

Nothing exciting, you may think. A bit industrial here, too.

But just see the colour of the sky at far end of the street. Doesn't it fill you with an anticipation, that something exciting is hidden over there, beckoning you? 😀

That was how I felt. So after getting the part I needed, and enjoyed a light hearted banter with the nice engineer-type guy at the shop, I walked on with my camera bag to the end of the street to meet the sky.

And here is the link to my new album WheelOut for the pictures from my wheeled outings. 🙂

Enjoy :coffee:

  1. Indeed. 😎 It was a gorgeous morning, after a bit shitty kind of old wet day before. I must revisit the area. Not only the beautiful sky and sea, you can also enjoy planes landing and taking off. Interesting viewing on a breezy day. This area also has big shops such as Mitr**0Mega & Bris**es. But the part of this street where my powertool shop has more laid back feel to it, which I quite liked.

  2. Ah, those places, I know them well, at least the local versions :yuck:

I actually quite like browsing at hardware or homeware shops. Grocery shopping is altogether a different matter.Originally posted by serola:

    Always! 😀

  4. I enjoyed your photos, MM. Thank you for sharing and I would be happy when I could walk at that beach for the moment. On Wednesday, I've fallen and I have sprained my left foot. Unfortunately I can not run for a while and that in the time just before Christmas. 😥 I hope it does not take so long.

  5. Very sorry to hear about your injury, Angelika. :awww: Have you been told not to use your foot? Is it giving you problem with work?

  6. Yes, I can't use my left foot. :awww: I own a house with several floors. To get from one floor to another, I have to slide step by step on my rear end up or down. It will probably take a bit longer until everything is okay again.

  7. Sounds bad. Have you been to your doctor and confirmed your ankle is just sprained, not broken or has tendon/ ligament injury?Originally posted by 7Wellis:

I remember the time when I broke my ankle and how frustrating it was. Be careful not to fall from stairs. Take care.

  8. I had such a story before with my other foot. This time I didn't visit a doctor, because I assume that he will advise me again just for immobilization of the foot. So I only have to make unfortunatelly some weeks a pause. 😥

  9. No two injuries are exactly the same. I've had several nasty ankle sprains in the past myself, but never bad enough to make me not use my leg, except once. In the one time I could not, I was eventually told I'd broken the bone (fibula). Of course if your ankle is getting better from not using it, then it's probably OK.

  10. Many thanks for the solace. I trust my instincts a little bit, so I hope I am right.
