Today I have pulled out the last of the rusty roof nails and replaced with the roof screw No 275. That was the moment that marked the end of Stage-one of my main summer DIY project, AKA Project-R (R stands for roof-painting).

Two-hundred-seventy-five roof screws now secure my roof. I have pulled out a somewhat fewer number of old lead capped roof nails and drilled replacement holes for about 15% of the new screws that replaced those old nails or installed for extra security.

Dance of summer breeze

We, the photography group Shoot&Tell members had the silhouette theme for the last fortnight. It was an interesting and intriguing theme to work on.

Initially I was a bit reluctant, because it seemed the detail focused images would be more relevant than silhouette here in NZ especially now being the height of summer and all. However as I watched other's creativity being exploded on this theme, my reluctance became an enthusiasm. Especially after Deb pointed out I have the perfect object here right outside my lounge. Therapeutic roofing

After a great start in the brilliant early summer, my roof painting project, the project-R has not taken off as much as I'd have liked.

Today after a month of non-roofing, finally the conditions were right AND I felt motivated. I was going to work on roof only till lunch time. But the conditions were so good and with encouragement from my friend DH, I decided to continue in the afternoon. It was hot and hard work, but therapeutic and grand at the same time. …

The last sunset of the year

The New Year's Eve was another beautiful day in Wellington, New Zealand. I was hoping for a clear evening for the perfect sunset photo. But there were some clouds over the western horizon. I settled for the old trick of capturing the setting sun in the foliage of cabbage tree. Satisfied, I went inside to attend some inside business (naturally).
