To My Opera dev team

I would like to share with you my message to the My Opera Community Development team I left at their blog.

I have had a wonderful time blogging and photo-sharing at My Opera, met special people and made great friends. You have given us such an easy platform to meet and share. And we have been so blessed to have the service of dedicated people, Andreas, RobertJ, Espen, Esteban, nicomen, who would work late, weekend or even when being sick to fix issues for us. Right now we are all pre-occupied with the future of our own little precious content and its sharing. However we must remember this management decision to close My Opera has affected or will inevitably affect the lives of our community dev team members. And, to me, they are not just developers. They are real people with names, faces and lives.

RobertJ has already moved to the main website dev team for some time. I think Espen also now works in another team, possibly marketing. Esteban (zoso) might have already moved on. Haven’t seen Nicolas (nicomen) for quite some time. Andreas (digmed) has gallantly managed the community forum front almost all by himself. What will he do after the 1st of March? Will his employment be secure?

Blogs and digital photos are just binary strings. What more important to me are the people and memories of them. Now you have read this little post of mine, you now know at least the names of our community devs.

As you can see below, Andreas assured me he wouldn’t be going astray after My Opera. :happy:
Meanwhile I forgot to mention the young man (?) Zbigniew, who stepped in to front the ” Disabled account – report it here!” thread at the community forum while Andreas was on holidays. I haven’t had a direct conversation with him. Sorry about that. 😮

Here’s the plan

So here’s the plan of actions at the moment:

* New MM blog is at http://mimismum.wordpress.com/
* This blog is still active. Will be exported probably early next year to another WP blog by MM, but likely to be kept private.
* I’ll try to preserve albums and photos with meaningful comments with archive.org. Won’t bother with photos without comments or with generic comments eg “nice”, etc.
* If any of you want to tell me what your plan is, feel free to share it in comment to this post.

I am aware I have not responded to the comments made to my blog or album for several months. I’m really sorry about that. I hope to go through the subscriptions soon. But I know some of you may not get to see them. Again I am sorry about that.

Disclaimer
You know me. I change mind. So this plan of actions is quite likely to change. What will not change is the fact all the good times at My Opera community will end in 3 months and 3 weeks time. “Hard work of being me” will still go on.
