Breaking points

It's about time I blogged about my outdoor project last year. I somehow missed the timing to start sharing ongoing development. A good thing with this delay is, I can now share the experience in a "fastforward flashbacks" fashion.

A long walk to Makara Peak and back

Sunday morning was beautiful. After a great day out on these hills on Waitangi Day, I was keen to do another longish walk. The route I had in mind was to walk up the spur that I came down on Waitangi Day and carry on to walk the rest of Skyline Walkway, then up to Makara Peak and back. …

On Crows Nest On Waitangi Day


The Crow's Nest is the prominent peak towering over the Wellington suburbs of Crofton Downs and Ngaio.

I have been to this handsome peak twice before. I was meaning to visit the peak again for some time. It's time I rectified the situation. Waitangi Day seems the perfect opportunity to get back into walking and the spirit of kiwi outdoors tradition. …

Nobody beats Wellington on a good day especially in the RWC quarter final weekend

Sunday 9h October was the last day when Wellington hosted a test match for 2011 Rugby World Cup. As you would expect, Wellington put out the best day in a while, which we all enjoyed so much. I took my car to 3/4 way down Old Wadestown Road and then walked to the waterfront, to soak up the sunshine, views, and the atmosphere. …

Lost spring

How many of you remember the very first post of my Hard Life blog, featuring my shiny classy high-end Made-in-Germany technology, Sthil brusch-cutter?
